"You are so creative!" I have heard that phrase constantly since I was little. DIY, Refashioning, Crafting, Sewing, Woodworking. I love it all! Now I have a place to keep my favorite projects or ideas organized and share them with you!

Easy 4th of July Pinata

with Rocket
Fun for the Fourth!
This one is not nearly as hard or messy to make as your traditional pinata.

We did this last year for the Fourth and it was a hit! Get it? Pinata... Hit! Ok enough bad jokes.
Here is what you need.

Empty Lemonade mix container or something similar.
Wire and wire cutter (a wire hanger will work)
Glue
Tape
Scissors
Tissue paper (red white and blue)
Wire garland (optional)
Drill and small drill bit or (nail and hammer)
Empty cereal box or something similar

How to:
Flip your container upside down. The metal part will be the top. Drill two holes in the metal part of your container. Like this.

Cut your wire to length of choice, but you will need it to be pretty long since you will want it to pass though the holes and come out the nose cone you will be making next. I made mine one large loop so that it was easy to use the wire to hang it.

Trace around a lunch plate to make a circle on the cereal box. Cut out your circle and cut out a triangle so that it looks like a pac-man shape.

You should have something like this. Doesn't have to be perfect, remember they are just going to be hitting this thing with a stick and destroying it. We removed the paper label that was on our container.

Next get your tissue paper pieces ready. You will need quite a few little squares around the size of a quarter, (if quarters were square)
Apply glue to the outside of your rocket a little space at a time. Then apply crumpled squares to the glue. We did stripes and drew a star shape and filled in those sections with different colors of paper to make the design. The nosecone we kept smoother looking by just applying the tissue flat, not crumpled.

We wanted to make our pinata easier to fill and easier to open so we just kept the plastic lid on the bottom. No tape or anything holding it on. The kids doing this activity were pretty little We filled by taking off the plastic bottom, then putting it back on once the goodies were inside. To make it a bit harder feel free to tape the lid on. It was still pretty hard to hit open without the tape. It took a few good whacks from a 10 year old before it opened.

We taped sparkle gold garland to the bottom to make it look like sparks.
